Definition of Happiness...

…is different for each of us.

This is a photo I took of the seashore on the Oregon coast. Watching the surf roll into shore is absolute heaven for me. I could do it for hours, rain or shine.

I actually live in the desert-the exact opposite of my happy place. Why? Because my husband’s definition of absolute heaven is the desert. And because of his particular physicality it’s painful for him to live just about anywhere else.

I adore him so we compromise to be together. We live in the desert and have a swimming pool.

This compromise got me thinking of all the things that I’m bombarded with every day that tell me if I would just be, look like, act, believe like others do-everything in the world would be alright.

I’m different.

Everyone who knows me and is reading this is laughing and nodding or scoffing depending on which part of my journey we encountered each other.

It took me a long time to accept my differences (still becoming aware and accepting) and to learn to set and enforce boundaries.

I also learned that my anger usually stems from me not getting my way. Being aware of this is a work in progress. So -

Today is the happiest I’ve ever been and I expect that tomorrow will be too.
